Kindergarten had also shown off their impressive ball handling skills in a non-competitive game of tunnel ball. The finals began with the top 8 boys from the 50m heats being escorted to the starting mark by their teammates. Cyclists and Trustees, all of whom had been assigned to houses, were on hand to offer special tips and support to their respective teams.
After an incredible day of competition and sportsmanship, the ‘Champion House’ Trophy was won for a second consecutive year by the high-flying Eagle House who had dominated the day’s events, scoring a massive 34 points. Wolf House came in at second place with 20 points, Ibex House placed third with 15 points and Bear House settled for last place with 11 points. As a consolation, however, the Bears walked away with the coveted tug of war title after beating previous year’s champions, Eagle House, in the final.
At the conclusion of the formal competitions, and as a special treat for the children, the cyclists, Trustees and KMT/KMS staff all represented their respective houses in an Adult Tug o War competition in which each house battled against every other house in a round robin format. The top two teams, Eagle and Bear, then had a hard fought showdown in the exciting final match which was won by Eagle House.
The awards ceremony rounded off the day as the top three position holders in each event were awarded prizes by cyclists. Individual ‘School Champion’ and ‘Bear House Champion’ trophies were picked up by Amina Bibi of Grade 3, who left her competition in the dust in her events. ‘Eagle House Champion’ went to Shoaib Shafeeq of Grade 1; ‘Wolf House Champion’ went to Nasir Hussain of Grade 3 and ‘Ibex House Champion’ was awarded to Kamil Arifeen of Grade 3. The most valued tug o’ war trophy and Champion House Trophy were awarded at the end of the ceremony to Bear House and Eagle House respectively.
